Import Elasticities at a Disaggregated Level. The Case of Sweden
研究了瑞典不同商品组的相对价格和活动变量弹性,发现同一行业内不同商品的弹性差异很大,因此讨论衰退商品比衰退行业更合适。
This study contains information on relative price and activity variable elasticities (19 and 18 estimates, respectively). When the data are aggregated, the price elasticities of five commodity groups are: food articles, - 0.6; glass, - 1.7; chemical products, -2.1; leather manufactures, clothing, textiles and footwear, -2.5 (with a large difference between textiles and clothing when disaggregated); and metal manufactures, machinery and vehicles, - 1.9. The overall elasticities are approximately -2.1 and + 0.9. Different commodities produced within an industry show quite different elasticities and it thus seems appropriate to discuss e.g. declining commodities rather than declining industries.
