Abstract

The This chapter examines the concept of redundancy as a feature of human resource management (HRM). It identifies the principal causes of redundancies. The chapter also distinguishes presents the main alternatives without having to make to compulsory redundancies. The impact of redundancy exercises on the workers affected, including remaining employees, and the implications for managing human resources is also considered. The chapter concludes by enumerating the four aspects of redundancy as a feature of human resource management.
