On the Stability of Age-Earnings Profiles

Age-earnings profiles are compared across three countries: Japan, Sweden and the United States. Dynamic changes in period, age and cohort characteristics and permanent differences across countries are discussed. Observed differences in profiles are explained partly by intertemporal country differences in the labor market situation and partly by institutional differences.
