Abstract

The article discusses the newly designed performance-based, goal-setting system at Microsoft Corporation. The performance management (PM) system is designed to ensure a business-focused corporate culture with disciplined execution and accountability. The article discusses the current system review, the change from goals to commitments, and the implementation of Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Results-based, and Time-specific (SMART) goals. An actual copy of the commitment goal form is provided.
