Former Argentine presidential candidate Ricardo López Murphy on rationality as the basis for a new institutional environment
采访了阿根廷前总统候选人、经济学家里卡多·洛佩斯·墨菲,他主张以理性为基础建立信任和可预测的制度环境,认为这是阿根廷实现繁荣的关键。
Executive Overview Ricardo López Murphy, an economist by education, has become a politician by trade. In his early college days, after long hours of study, he exercised his political leadership skills at Juventud Radical de la Universidad de La Plata, a student political body. Ricardo López Murphy then earned a master of science degree in economics at the University of Chicago. As an economist he had a career in academia. He did research at the Fundación de Investigaciones Económicas LatinoAmericanas (FIEL), an Argentine economics think-tank, where he became chief economist. He also taught at Universidad de La Plata, Universidad de Buenos Aires, and Universidad de San Andrés. He has been a columnist in various leading newspapers, including Argentina's Ambito Financiero and Uruguay's El Pay's. Mr. Murphy was Defense Minister and Economy Minister during the presidency of Fernando de la Rua. He renounced his leadership position at Unión Cìvica Radical, where he had conducted his political activities since his early college days, and founded a new party, Recrear Argentina. Mr. López Murphy was a candidate for the presidency of Argentina in the elections of April 2003. As will become clear in this interview, he is a fierce defender of a market-oriented economy, with central government planning only for specific tasks. He argues that the only way for Argentina to enjoy prosperity is to create an appropriate environment for investments—that is, an environment of trust and predictability, an environment where responsible politicians lead by example instead of empty discourse and, most important of all, where the law is equally respected and upheld by everyone.
