Abstract

The article discusses research pertaining to employee satisfaction and firm performance. Researchers studied eight years' worth of employee attitude data, return on assets, and earnings per share from several large corporations. The study revealed a link between employee satisfaction and firm satisfaction in both directions over multiple periods. The researchers contend that the results imply the existence of a circular loop with respect to causality. The research indicated that as a firm's reputation improved so did its ability to offer superior benefits and higher pay to employees. Experts say the study proves that management should monitor employee attitudes and satisfaction.
