Job Generation Research: A Reply to Storey and Johnson

C.C. Gallagher and J. Doyle ar with the Department of industrial managment at the university of Newcasste upon Tyne, England. In this paper the autors areply to criticism made in the previous paper by storey and johnson, in particular the implict argument that small firms do not create as many jobs as has been supposed. they consier most of the criticism to be over-simplifications, at the worst misleading or factually incorrect.They belive that,despite its problems the Dun and Bradstree database is still one of the best sources there is with which to study job generation in Britin whole economy. They see no reason arising out of the critisisms to reverse their orignial conclusion that small firms are important generators of jobs.
