Reply: Politics dressed as plain truth (again): On rhetorics of `openness' and `impartiality' in Christensen et al
批评Christensen等人将研究分为“开放经验”与“固定意识形态”的二分法,指出所有文本都带有立场,经验证据不会自我言说,主张超越这种无益的区分。
Christensen et al. base their argument on a distinction between ‘open empirical’ and ‘fixed ideological’ studies. This is surely an unhelpful delineation. All text is produced through a position in discourse; all authors are committed in one way or another and empirical evidence never speaks for itself. It is disingenuous to simply claim an ‘open attitude’ and then use this as your trump card. It is better to move beyond, rather than reproduce, unhelpful distinctions between ideology and truth.
