Health and the Economy: Exogenous versus Choice Variables
研究了1948-82年间主要心血管疾病与经济变量的关系,发现商业周期变量解释力弱,而个人理性消费选择变量结果更稳健,且除啤酒消费外不存在反向因果。
This research estimates the relationship between major cardiovascular disease and certain economic variables, 1948-82. The results indicate that business cycle variables provide little explanatory power. Instead, consumption variables related to rational, economic choices by individuals provide much richer and empirically stable results. The empirical results are tested for reverse causation and, with the exception of beer consumption, indicate a lack of reverse causation. Copyright 1990 by WWZ and Helbing & Lichtenhahn Verlag AG
