Effects of control on the performance of information systems projects: The moderating role of complexity risk

Highlights Control modes are positively associated with the system performance of projects. Complexity risk differentially moderates the effectiveness of control. Behavior and self‐control are ineffective under high complexity risk. Outcome and clan control are highly effective under high complexity risk.
