The long and the short of gainsharing

The article discusses research pertaining to the effect of gain sharing programs on employees' work performance. Based on the research a gain sharing program, even in a short span of time, can stimulate and sustain long-term job performance. It was revealed that it is reasonable to expect positive employee attitudes even after the gain sharing bonus is eliminated. Enhanced peer communication that was achieved through the gain sharing program became a source of learning. This eventually led to changes in employee behaviors.
