Abstract

Many nonprofit organizations provide more than one service for their clientele. These multiprogram agencies must manage their program portfolio as a totality in order to maximize effectiveness. The authors present a four-way classification model which facilitates strategic decisions, such as those regarding which programs to emphasize or deemphasize and which to discontinue. The model also provides guidelines useful in assessing organizational health.
