Economic Geographies of Globalisation: A Short Introduction is the latest textbook on economic geography. The central question of the book is the exploration of how economies work over space. Against this backdrop, this book tries to argue against a flat view of globalization, which is guided by the general logics of ‘the market’, or to argue that globalization decreases the differences. To pursue this aim, the book provides simple but striking examples, from different corners of the world, to sharpen the reader’s geographical understanding about how the general processes of globalization (e.g. the circulation of money and finance or knowledge) are mitigated and shaped by the particular local circumstances of economies, regions, cities and neighborhoods. Therefore, it is most suitable for students who have just started their geography courses, as it lays out in a very clear way what is economic geography, what makes it distinctive from other social sciences and, because of different perspectives, what makes it an increasingly important subject to study. The book’s main argument is presented through eight chapters.
