研究了南苏丹苏德地区私营部门与政府商业捕鱼业的经济活动,指出该行业为市场提供蛋白质并带来利润,但需资本和基础设施投资以实现进一步发展。
Private sector and government commercial fishing is an important economic enterprise in southern Sudan. In contrast to artisinal producers of sun-dried fish who concentrate on subsistence consumption of their product, commercial producers monopolize the production of salt-dried fish for both regional and national markets. Private entrepreneurs play a prominent role in organizing the fishing camps on which exploitation of the resource is based. At the present time, the industry is flourishing because it provides vitally important protein to consumers and returns a substantial profit to both professional fishermen and merchant entrepreneurs. Continued growth in market demand offers great opportunity for future development if capital, training, and infrastructure investments can be developed to expand a resource-use system that is intermediate in scale between traditional artisinal fisheries and industrial operations.
