The author expands on his belief that management scholars should have greater involvement in both public and private policy matters, and identifies five issues that should be addressed to that end. To make an impact, scholars need to know what to do as well as how to do it. Management theory and method need to be more innovative, and scholars need to promote more interdisciplinary openness. As management is not culture-free, it needs to address more international concerns. Finally, a better balance must be struck between research and practical application.
