The economic viability and stability of ‘capitalised family farming’: An analysis of agricultural decollectivisation in Peru
研究了秘鲁农业去集体化后形成的资本化家庭农场,比较了分地农户与集体农场的生产效率,发现水稻产量提高但技术效率相似,且农户间出现分化。
Agricultural decollectivisation in Peru created a nascent ‘Capitalist Family Farm’ sector. Does the empirical fact of parcellisation suggest that small‐scale agriculture is optimal? Will land reconcentration occur with differentiation among the parceleros? Studying the causes and consequences of parcellisation provides insight into a number of questions relating to alternative production systems. Productive efficiency is compared between the parceleros and their co‐operative predecessors and among the parceleros. Some conclusions reached are: (1) rice yields increased relative to the final years of co‐operative production; (2) sample parceleros and co‐operatives exhibit similar levels of technical efficiency; (3) the production potential of parcelled units is estimated to be less than that of a well‐functioning co‐operative system; and (4) differentiation among parceleros is occurring as a range of incomes is realised from a more or less homogeneous resource base.
