The Israeli meat sector: An econometric model

This paper provides an econometric model description of the Israeli meat sector. Four meat commodities, constituting the Israeli meat basket, are analyzed: fresh beef, frozen beef, uncleaned broilers and cleaned broilers. A simultaneous-equations model was specified to yield estimates of the most important relations linking consumption, import, production, inventories and prices. Special attention is paid to policy instruments affecting the behaviour of various segments of the sector.
