Executive Overview This article presents an examination of study conducted by researcher Warren Boeker on the strategic implications of executive migration, or the movement of executives between firms. The author discusses how Boeker studied the relationship between executive migration and new market entry for 67 semiconductor firms over an 18-year period. Boeker found a significant, positive relationship between executive migration and a firm's likelihood of entering a market in which the new executive's former firm competed. The author also notes that Boeker's research explored various facets of this effect of executive migration on product market entry decisions. The notes that despite only examining one industry the study still produced significant results.
