Dimensions of Organizations: Environment, Context, Structure, Process, and Performance.
该书整合了1970年代中期前的组织社会学理论与实证文献,适合作为高年级本科生和研究生的教材,但未涉及当时最新研究,理论贡献有限。
Mary Zey-Ferrell's Dimensions of Organizations is a wellwritten, descriptive integration of the theoretical and empirical literature in organizational sociology through the mid1 970s. The book's main weakness, however, is that it fails to address significant current work in the field and is thus somewhat dated. It also fails to develop many new ideas and therefore does not directly make a significant contribution to theory in its own right. Lest this latter criticism seem too severe, it should of course be noted that not all books need be written with theory construction in mind. In fact, Dimensions of Organizations would be a good text for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in organizational sociology, if supplemented with more recent updated material. Also, its organization and disciplinary orientation. make it a good source for those who are specialists in other areas of organizational analysis and who wish to refamiliarize themselves with some of the more macro aspects of their field.
