Management Scholars and Public Policy: A Bridge Too Far?

The article explores the relationship between management scholars and public policy. Reward systems and career issues aside, the author maintains that making a difference in public policy and management demands a re-examination of how one conducts research. Pressing issues in public policy need to drive research agendas more than they currently do. In addition, a wider range of research methods needs to be used, and a greater degree of collaboration needs to be established with those whom one hopes to inform and influence.
