Who Are the Family Foundations' Findings from the Foundation Management Survey
The Council on Foundations surveys American foundations biennially about their staff, policies, and operations. This report presents the data from the 1990 survey, focusing on the 39 percent of the sample that have been defined as family foundations. The analysis finds that family foundations differ from the general population of foundations in average size, board composition, limits on board service, and work demands on staff and trustees. The authors suggest questions for further research.
