Evaluations of Risk: Do Organizational or Individual Biases Prevail?
研究银行家贷款风险评估中个人偏见与组织因素哪个影响更大,发现银行家对老客户风险高估、对新客户风险低估。
The article presents findings of a study by Gerry McNamara and Philip Bromiley, which investigates competing influences of individual and organizational factors on the risk assessments made by individual decision makers using a banking system as model. More specifically, McNamara wanted to know whether decision makers in organizations give greater weight to their own biases or to organizational considerations when assessing risk. McNamara and Bromiley examined 523 risk assessment decisions made by bankers when giving out a loan. The survey found that bankers saw only limited risk in lending to new customers, while overestimating the risk associated with lending to existing customers.
