Poverty, agriculture, and economic development: A survey
This article surveys the determinants of poverty, and development. It is argued that neither land nor capital are restricting factors for economic development in low-income countries in the long run, but that human capital and other human quality components are. Moreover, it is emphasized that economic and agricultural policies of industrialized as well as less-developed countries, and international donor agencies all too often contribute to the perpetuation of poverty and deceleration of agricultural and economic development.
