Abstract

This study extends past research on coordination by investigating its interaction effect with uncertainty on organizational performance. Results from a field study show that the higher the level of uncertainty, the more positive the relationship between coordination and output quality, but the less positive the relationship between coordination and output quantity. Implications of the findings are discussed, including their relevance to the choice of effectiveness criteria in organization research.
