Bayesian estimation of an almost ideal demand system for fresh fruit in Portugal

This paper presents the results from estimating an Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) for fresh fruit in Portugal. A complete matrix of price and expenditure elasticities of demand for apples, pears, oranges, peaches, cherries and plums is reported. A Bayesian approach is used to impose curvature and monotonicity restrictions in the model.
