Causality between Dairy Farm Size and Productivity

Abstract The direction of causality between dairy farm size and productivity is examined for each state using multivariate Granger‐causality tests. The results only partially support the view that technological change has caused increases in dairy farm size. The direction of causality appears to be more from size to productivity. Changes in productivity and average herd size appear driven by price changes.
