Modern Slavery As A Management Practice: Exploring the Conditions and Capabilities for Human Exploitation
将现代奴隶制视为一种管理实践,识别出剥削/隔离能力和维持/塑造能力,并建立模型说明企业如何利用宏观制度条件使奴隶制在非法和不正当的情况下盛行。
Scant attention has been paid to the phenomenon of modern slavery in the management literature. This article redresses this by identifying modern slavery as a management practice comprising exploiting/insulating capabilities and sustaining/shaping capabilities. I present a model specifying how these microorganization-level capabilities enable enterprises that deploy slavery to take advantage of the macroinstitutional conditions that permit the practice to flourish in the face of widespread illegality and illegitimacy. I then advance potential implications for management theory and suggestions for further theoretical and empirical research.
