The article presents a response to criticism from David C. Jacobs and Kathleen A. Getz of an earlier article from “Academy of Management Review.” The author takes this opportunity to clarify some misinterpretations of their article. The article addresses the foundation of stakeholder theory in property rights justification, agrees that stakeholder theory should be grounded in normative theory, but disagrees with Jacobs and Getz on their association of stakeholder theory and distributive justice.
