In 1971, the Hewlett-Packard Company established manufacturing operations in Grenoble, France. It was to be a facility with complete European production responsibility for two key productsa minicomputer and a distance measuring instrument. By 1975, it had grown to 250 people, was fabricating many different instruments and systems, and had acquired worldwide research-anddevelopment responsibility for data collection products.
