The article presents the results of a study which examined the extent to which age, organizational and top management team tenure, and graduation from a prestigious university affects the rate of executive-level turnover in Japanese firms. The study indicated that differences in age, team tenure, and prestige in the university lead to higher turnover, particularly among younger executives. Executives under the age of 51 experienced a turnover rate of 100%. Firm size, performance, and industry membership did not affect these relationships.
