Abstract

In this article we introduce the concept of cultural recomposition and propose its effects on group interaction processes. To gain an understanding of the mechanisms that underlie these effects, we employ self-categorization theory and control chart theory. From these we develop our own theory, proposing that cultural recomposition causes the type of variation in group interaction processes that may have substantial implications for group performance. We also identify factors that may determine whether cultural recomposition will cause this type of variation in group interaction processes.
