Critical realism and Russian economics

The current state of development of critical realism in the west mirrors the methodology developed by the Tsagalov School at Moscow State University in the 1960s. Each draws its inspiration from Marx but the Tsagalov approach is more general in that it is applicable equally to socialism as to capitalism. Political factors prevented the Tsagalov methodology from coming to fruition in the Soviet Union. In the current more liberal environment it provides a framework for Russian and Post Keynesian economics to explore possible future development.
