Firm Size and Dynamic Efficiency in the Life Insurance Industry
This paper is concerned with the relationship between insurer size and the receptivity of insurers to adopting new computer technology. For different samples of North American life insurers, the study concludes that large insurers were slower to computerize their head office activities than their smaller rivals. This result is consistent with a finding that the productivity impacts of automation decrease as one includes the largest insurers in the sample.
