The Philanthropy Marketplace
研究捐赠者与受赠机构之间的互动过程,分析双方在动机、期望和控制权等方面的差异,以及地理位置对捐赠市场的影响。
Non-profits rely in part on gifts for their revenues. Yet the process by which donations are made to museums, educational institutions, charitable and welfare organizations, and other non-profits is not well understood. In this paper, gifts are considered in the context of an interaction between donor and recipient; each has a range of possible motivations and expectations. For example, the donor may expect control, the recipient the widest latitude in use of funds with respect to targeting; there also may be divergence in clarity of agendas and intensity of preferences. Locational factors are important inasmuch as such donor-recipient markets generally function at a metropolitan or smaller scale.
