On the Use of Historical Data in the Estimation of Economic Losses
指出在人身伤害或死亡案件中,使用历史数据估算工资增长率和贴现率会导致经济损失估计偏差,并提出无偏的估算方法。
Two common errors in studies relying on historical data to measure economic losses in personal injury/wrongful death cases are as follows: First, historical data are used to estimate a nominal growth rate for wages and a nominal discount rate. Second, historical data for an individual worker may be used to project the future growth in earnings. Both of these approaches will bias the economic loss estimates. This article will examine the reasons for these biases and will propose a method of estimating economic losses that does not contain these biases.
