China′s Design Standards for Energy Efficiency and Estimation of Building Energy Savings

This paper introduces the development history of China′s building design standards for energy efficiency,explains the regulations on three main factors in the design standards——building envelop,occupiers′ lifestyle and technical system.It analyzes the concept of energy saving rate in the building design standards based on the three factors.It points out that a clear understanding of the energy baseline and the preconditions of realizing energy saving rate is the premise of using building design standards to estimate energy savings.Estimation of energy savings through new construction or retrofit could be misguided with misinterpretation of the design standards.
