The Art Deco style occupied an important position in the process of Shanghai modern architecture development.It was main constitution part in Shanghai city context.Besides the influence upon facades,the Art Deco style also passed on a living pattern and values.As an architecture style in the growth and change period of Shanghai,the Art Deco style certainly determined the city image of Shanghai.Not only putting together a band of building form,this city image also indicated city history,aesthetic appreciation and values as well.Being an idea of space,this city image even more expressed a concept of culture because it reflected the relationship between culture and form.Today,studding the Art Deco style in Shanghai would be helpful for us to understand local characteristic and the meaning of city culture.
