The Variation Characteristics and Development Trend of Functional Structures of Chinese Cities
基于2000年第五次人口普查数据，用Ward法分类649个中国城市，分析1990-2000年城市功能结构的变动特征，并探讨其机制与未来趋势，为区域与城市规划提供参考。
Based on China's fifth population census,this paper first classifies 649 Chinese cities in 2000 using the Ward's Method. Comparing the results with those in 1990,it analyses the latest variation characteristics of functional structures of Chinese cities in 1990-2000. Furthermore,the paper tries to uncover the potential mechanism that makes the changes of functional structures of Chinese cities and projects some possible development trend for its future development,with the purpose of benefiting China's regional and urban planning practice in the new 21st century.
