CHARACTERISTICS, PROBLEMS AND COUNTERMEASURES OF LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN TIANJIN BINHAI NEW AREA

Tianjin Binhai New Area (TBNA) is a new building economic zone in the seaside area of Tianjin. It is a great strategic decision of local economic development distribution to develop TBNA . TBNA has been built up the structural frame of an economic zone and become a Head of Dragon of regional economy in Tianjin through seven years development. In this paper, I reveal in detail some major characteristics and problems underlying local economic development based on the relevant statistics during 1994-2001. Some countermeasures and proposals on increasing the ability of economic sustainable development of TBNA have been brought out .
