RESEARCH ON SUPPLY OF CHINESE TOURIST HOTELS

As one of the three pillar industries of tourism, tourist hotel plays a significant role in promoting regional tourism and national economy. With its size, quality and service having met or approaching the international standard, Chinese tourist hotel has stepped into a new era. But with regard to its grade formation, operation and spatial distribution, much remains to be done. Over many years, the number of Chinese tourist hotel has increased dramatically, with its never-ceasing upgrading of facilities and services. Though the size and net income of Chinese tourist hotel keep growing in recent decades, its operational efficiency is not satisfactory. Chinese tourist hotel has developed a new picture in which various types of ownership coexist, those of state-owned taking the leading role, collective, private, share-holding, alliance, foreign-invested and Hongkong, Macao, Taiwan-invested complement. In the competitive market, state-owned tourist hotels are kept at an unfavorable status. The imperfection of Chinese tourist hotel is reflected by excessive three-star hotels or hotels above this level. But hotels below this level can't meet the demand. This should be attributed to many aspects. And it is bound to be improved for the advancement of tourism.
