Abstract

Taking Hangzhou as an example, the land use information was derived by Remote Sensing(RS) technology.Then we calculated the transferring matrix, dynamics degrees of land use, and the centroids of every land use type. At last, the spatial- temporal features of land use change and its drivers were analyzed from 1995 to 2010. The results revealed that:(1) The area of build-up land, wetland, green-land and forestland are increased, decreased for arable land,kept stable for water body.(2) Mutual transfer process between the various types of land is more complex. The urban green space exhibits highest dynamic, while the arable land with biggest transferring area.(3) The area of build-up land kept increasing, and the growth rate gradually decreased.(4) The centroid position for each land type has changed. The maximum moving distance for centroid position is the build-up land while with the least distance for the forestland.(5)From 1995 to 2000, the process of land urbanization is quite slow in Hangzhou, while it exhibited the highest growth ratio from 2000 to 2005.
