A CONTRASTIVE STUDY OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BETWEEN THE CHINA'S RESOURCE—ORIENTED AND PROCESSING—ORIENTED AREAS——A CASE STUDY BETWEEN SHANXI AND ZHEJIANG PROVINCE
对比山西和浙江两省，分析资源丰富的山西为何自1978年以来经济发展滞后，而资源稀缺的浙江却能持续快速发展，并总结加工导向型地区的经验，提出资源导向型地区发展制造业的策略。
Based on an authentic contrastive study between the two typical resource-oriented and processing-oriented provinces, namely, Shanxi and Zhejiang, the paper analyzes why Zhejiang, a province of scarce resources, can maintain sustainable and rapid development of its economy; while Shanxi, a province with rich resources, has been lagging behind in economic development since 1978. Furthermore, on the basis of the contrastive study for the differences existing in economic development between the above-mentioned areas, the paper has summarized the experiences for economic development in the processing-oriented areas. The paper, finally, puts forward the strategies for vigorously developing manufacturing industry in resource-oriented areas, for arousing initiative of the enterprises and governments concerned, for tapping inter-regional market, and for promoting fast development of economy in China's resource-oriented areas.
