An experiment of Modern Chinese urban planning——Review of the 1935' Qingdao urban plan project,its backgrounds, contents, and historical significance

The 1935' Qingdao Urban Plan Project is the first master plan working-out by Chinese planers. It is also an important experiment of modern urban planning in modern China. This Project was the result both of the unique progress of China and the development of the city itself. Based on the first-hand historical materials, the paper gives a comprehensive review of the plan: its main contents, advanced ideas, and limitations. We can conclude that the 1935' Qingdao Urban Plan Project is an typical case reflected the attitude of Chinese to modern urban planning changed from the passive acceptance to active implement and through which representing the urban planning trajectory in modern China.
