This paper systematically reviews the process of agricultural development and the Central region of China is the nation's vital commodity grain base,ensuring food security and providing primary products for the whole country.The nation's policy to boost the development of the central region provides the opportunity to further exert the predominance of its abundance in water and land to develop modern crop farming and processing.This paper analyzed the characteristics and problems of agricultural production in the central region,discussed the function and direction of its development in the new period,and finally put forward corresponding approaches and countermeasures to prompt overall agricultural production capacity and realize sustainable agricultural development.
