Abstract

This paper modeled the globalization effect on inflation for 10 countries from G10 during the Great Moderation period. The main findings are:(i) globalization effect is highly significant but it differs from country to country;(ii) inflation may increase or decrease when a country becomes more open via trade;(iii) the inflation rates have been definitely kept low by increasing imports from the emerging market economies in the Great Moderation Era,but there is little evidence that globalization has exerted much impact on either inflation persistence or inflation variability.
