Challenges and Strategies for China's Urbanization

This article discusses its own characteristics of China's urbanization compared to three waves of the global urbanization;analyzes and summarizes the major challenges of urban development in China currently: a very sharp contradiction between people and land,large-scale and disorder-distribution migrant workers flow,imbalances in energy structure and building energy consumption growing too fast,rapid growth in the number of automobiles,imbalance of driving forces behind urbanization,destruction of natural,historical and cultural heritage,the growing income gap between urban and rural residents,vicious competition between cities;it proposes a number of strategies accordingly.
