MEASURING THE RECREATIONAL VALUE OF JIUZHAIGOU NATURE RESERVE WITH CONTINGENT VALUATION METHOD
用支付卡阶梯法和1.5边界二分法两种诱导技术测量九寨沟自然保护区的游憩价值,发现厚尾偏差导致后者估计的支付意愿更高,校准后两者接近,验证了条件价值法在发展中国家环境物品评估中的有效性。
Economic valuation of outdoor recreational resources which are part of environmental resources,remains one of the most active study fields.Contingent Valuation Method(CVM) is one of the two most frequently used methods in the world to value recreational resources,whose outcome is influenced by different elicitation techniques.With Jiuzhaigou Nature Reserve as the study area,two elicitation techniques with comparative advantage in statistical validity,i.e.,payment card ladder and one and a half bounded dichotomous choice questionnaire(1.5 bounded DCQ),are employed respectively to measure the recreational value of the reserve.Calculated results suggeste that mainly due to the thick-tail bias,the mean WTP estimated by 1.5 bounded DCQ is greater than the mean WTP estimated by payment card ladder format.After calibration for thick-tail bias with 1.5 bounded DCQ,the mean WTP estimated from this technique is quite close to that from payment card ladder.This implies that the internal validity test of the CVM study could be assumed as rather satisfying.It is believed that even in developing countries like China,CVM is still a promising method to value environmental goods,on the premise of extremely careful and proper conduction of the survey,including questionnaire design,survey administration and data processing.
