THE RESEARCH ON THE COORDINATION DEVELOPMENT OF POPULATION DISTRIBUTION AND REGIONAL ECONOMY IN SHANXI PROVINCE
分析了山西省人口与经济分布的不平衡性，发现两者呈正相关且集中在中部地区，划分了六种人口-经济匹配类型，提出空间集聚策略以促进人口、经济与环境的协调发展。
Imbalance is the most fundamental property of the distribution of population and economy and their tending to develop intensively in space is internal law of regional development. Comprehensive analysis of the distribution in Shanxi province in this article shows that there is a direct relation between the level of regional economic development and density of population, and no matter the amount or the quality of regional economy connects with the level of urbanization and civilization of people greatly. As far as Shanxi concerned, the population and economy distribution here is obviously unbalanced. And their developing energy is active in the middle, whereas weak in the mountainous lands in the East and West. Although the two elements'dynamic evolution tends to concentrate on the central area, there still comes.A trend of dispersion, and even in the western hilly lands, a converse-developed trend has sprung up, which is the most serious problem. Meanwhile, the extent of population concentration in geographical distribution is lower comparing to the one of economy distribution. It can be observed in this article that 6 population-economy-matching types of region are divided based on evolution of population and economy in Shanxi since 1982.Thus, it is concluded that the strategy of the intensive development of population and economy in space should further enforced so that the population, economy and environment can develop harmoniously. Space-intensifying strategy should be executed in rearrangement of population and economy in Shanxi province. Acceleration in the concentration towards developed zones, main-exploited districts and major cities of population and production elements via adjustment to the distributions of population and investment is in favor of structuring gradually a concordant development pattern involving population, economy, environment and ecology. The countermeasures to promote concentration of population and economy include 4 items. First, reasonable migration of population and equitable centralization of production elements must be stimulated by enhancement of the market reform, enforcement of imbalanced development policy and consolidation of the cities and towns system; second, reconstruction of residential areas in the east and west should be impelled to reclaim forests and grass from farmland; third, laying high emphasis on improvement of population quality to strengthen dynamic energy of population and economy and the last, regulating administrative division properly and extending the space of population and economy where the two elements are distributed rationally.
