STUDY ON THE INFLUENCE OF GLOBALIZATION AND INFORMATIZATION ON YANGTZE RIVER DELTA REGION'S SPATIAL STRUCTURE

Globalization and informatization are becoming two important factors to reshape region and urban development, especially for Yangtze River Delta Region (YRDR). Firstly, the paper analyzes the spatial effect of transnational corporations and global capital flow on YRDR. That is, trans-corporations accelerated regional spatial polarization and urban spatial restructuring. Secondly, the paper discusses the development of information industry, information network and intellectual resources. The paper consider that the distribution of information industry is uneven spatially, which induces some new spatial growth center emerging. Information network and intellectual resources are speeding up the spatial transformation of YRDR. All in all, the paper argue that globalization and informatization have affected the spatial structure of YRDR. New spatial relationship is building up.
