The petrified woods belt in Xinchang, Zhejiang Province, is one of the rare petrified woods traces of Mesozoic era inChina, especially in southern China area is more vauabe and rare. The characteristics of Xinchang petrified woods are big quanti-ty、major diameter、long extend and clear structure of plant. This valuable wealth is left over by the nature, and con't reproduct-ed. According to principles of active protect and rational use , develop in protecting and protect in developing for petrifiedwoods, establishing a National Geological park that petrified woods is the main part is the best protective move: (1) Protectivepetrified woods resources, and prevent to mess cut and denudation; (2)establish new special tourist plate of Xinchang, directlyto serve locality economy by closs relating two provincial-level tourist attractions-the Nineteen peak Mountains (Danxialardform) and Xinchang Grand Buddha Temple (religional culture); (3)Set up geoscience educational base, it is precisely in thetourism that the education resides, to spread cultural and scientific knowledge.
